Jason’s All-Sumo Channel archive By Ollie (u/Hidenotora) and an anonymous Jason fan
ATTENTION: Right now the torrent file that has been generated by archive.org does not contain all the files. This will eventually be fixed I think, but I'm not sure of the timeline. I know this is annoying but just letting people know.
Jason’s All-Sumo Channel was a Youtube channel dedicated to sumo. It was taken down due to copyright strikes in January 2023 after 14 years with very little warning. Luckily Jason let his viewers know after he received the first two strikes, and I began archiving the channel. Unfortunately it was taken down before I could finish, but I’d started with the oldest videos first which I figured were the most important. Luckily, someone on Reddit who wants to remain nameless had started with the newest first and we managed to crossover, meaning we had the entire channel archived between us.
Some things to note: - I archived videos as MP4s in the best quality possible. The other guy grabbed them as mkvs at 480p, or 720p when available. Mkvs are smaller files, but aren’t as widely supported. If you want to convert them all to the same format, go ahead, but there’s too many files for me to do that! - I’ve sorted the files by year, but with some it’s not clear what year the videos are from. Some can be figured out by looking at sumodb or through context, but again I don’t have the time to do that. The videos I couldn’t figure out in a few seconds are in the “Date unknown” folder. - Videos that are just Jason talking to cam and not about a specific basho (opening cards, vlogs etc) are in the “Jason vids” folder. Videos which are just Jason talking to cam but about a specific basho are in the relevant year folder. - Jason sometimes uploaded news clips or some of the extra things shown during coverage, focusing on a rikishi or a specific basho from the past, etc. There are in the “Specials + Features” folder. - There may be some duplicate files, or videos in the wrong folder. Everything should be where it belongs but I’ve ended up with more files than were actually on the channel, so something has been duplicated. Jason’s naming scheme makes it really hard to check things (understandable it would change over 14 years, but it also changes mid-basho sometimes!), so you’ll probably come across some stuff that’s doubled. And if something is in the wrong folder, just put it where it belongs.
